Colour film has all these different components:
A top layer of gelatin, which protects the underlying layers against damage.
The first emulsion layer, which contains blue-sensitive silver halide plus and a yellow-forming colour coupler. This is a colourless substance that reacts with the decomposition products
A yellow filter layer, which holds blue light from the subsequent emulsion layers. It disappears during a stage of processing.
The second emulsion layer, which contains blue- and green-sensitive silver halide plus a magenta-forming colour coupler.
The next emulsion, which is blue-and-red sensitiveand contains a cyan-forming colour coupler.
A substrate, which ensures optimum adhesion of the emulsion layers to the film base.
The film base of clear cellulose acetate derivative, typically about 0.005 inch thick.
The back of the support, which carries a light-absorbing layer.
